The Ashfield Historical Society was formed in 1961. The society operates as a public charity. Most of the work of the society is done by interested volunteers organized in committees with various special interests. The society is governed by trustees and officers, and is supported financially largely by approximately 300 members who pay annual membership fees. Additional support comes from the sale of literature on the history of Ashfield, and prints made from negatives in the collection. A variety of fund-raising projects are undertaken each year. These might include bake sales, raffles, pancake breakfasts, and concerts. Direct appeals for donations are made for particular projects, and certain projects have received major grants.
Members meet annually to vote for officers and trustees, accept bylaws, and the reports of the officers, and they receive the newsletter of the organization. If you are interested in becoming a member, please see the membership form.
